Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team at Xylem. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, servicing, and repairing pump and support equipment in a safe and efficient manner at customer job sites across Minnesota.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of diesel experience and a valid driver's license with a good driving record. You will also have a thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.

In this role, you will work independently with little or no supervision, and be self-motivated and self-directed. You will also be able to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and managers both verbally and in writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and servicing as directed on Godwin fleet equipment between each rental.
  • Troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical systems, and pump problems.
  • Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends.
  • Assist customers and/or Xylem personnel with setting up pumping systems on customer job sites as needed.
  • Perform an initial inspection of Godwin fleet equipment for possible damages; diagnose damages; report damages to Service Manager.
  • Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment.
  • Perform diagnostic checks using computer technology.
  • Participate in weekly on-call rotation schedule to assist customers after hours.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of diesel experience or a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose basic mechanical problems.
  • Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Basic understanding of pump station electrical controls and monitoring devices.
  • General DC electric and circuit testing skills.
  • General diesel engine component location and identification.
  • CDL Class B is considered a plus.
  • Safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and managers both verbally and in writing.
