Job Title: Postdoctoral Scholar

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team at the Penn State Cancer Institute. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cancer biology, immunology, and molecular biology, with a focus on translational research in thoracic oncology.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and perform experiments using specialized techniques in cancer cellular/molecular biology and cancer immunology.
  • Conduct in vivo studies using immunocompromised and immunocompetent mouse models of cancer, including transgenic models.
  • Perform molecular and cellular assays, such as MTS viability assay, western blot, soft agar assay, and cell invasion assay.
  • Isolate and analyze tumor cells and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes.
  • Quantify gene expression by qRT-PCR and prepare samples for RNAseq and other genomics, proteomics, and epigenomics profiling experiments.
  • Manage clinical-pathologic database on translational research projects involving patients' tissue and blood samples.
  • Perform multicolor flow cytometry experiments.
  • Attend and present at lab meetings and external national/international conferences.
  • Develop new techniques and protocols by consulting various sources.
Requirements:
  • PhD and/or MD degree or equivalent.
  • Substantial experience in relevant techniques, including processing human samples, mouse modeling, and in vitro functional studies.
  • Expertise in cancer immunobiology/immunotherapy is highly desirable.
  • At least one recent publication as the first or second author in a peer-reviewed journal in the field of molecular cancer signaling, targeted therapy, or immunobiology/immune-oncology.

The Ma Lab focuses on translational cancer research in thoracic oncology, with emphasis on mechanisms of drug resistance in targeted therapy and immunotherapy. Other areas of research include PDX preclinical modeling, predictive biomarkers, epigenetic regulation of tumor reprogramming, and single-cell molecular-omics analysis.
