Job Overview
This role is integral to the mission of Ymcasatx, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the direct guidance of the Early Learning Center Director, the Culinary Coordinator is tasked with overseeing comprehensive food services for children and staff. This includes food preparation, inventory management, meal delivery, and sanitation practices.
Core Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe and hygienic environment in all food service areas.
- Operate and maintain all commercial kitchen equipment properly.
- Manage food items by ensuring proper dating, storage, rotation, and inventory control.
- Prepare meals in accordance with the established menu.
- Ensure appropriate portion sizes for each child, preparing food in an appealing and accessible manner.
- Execute additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain knowledge of safety and emergency protocols, reporting any unsafe conditions promptly.
- Serve as the primary responder for accidents and incidents.
- Uphold cleanliness standards in accordance with center guidelines and educate children on proper equipment usage and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively and maintain a professional demeanor with staff, parents, and children.
- Be available for meetings, training sessions, and special events outside of regular hours as needed.

Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old with experience in general nutrition.
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Completion of food program training is mandatory prior to starting job duties.
- Ability to foster positive relationships by promoting values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with staff, members, and participants.
- Exhibit positive role modeling for children, demonstrating emotional maturity and stability.
- Experience working with diverse populations and building authentic relationships.
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Emergency Oxygen are required within the first 60 days of employment.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position is performed in a dynamic environment requiring effective communication with staff, children, and parents. Attention to detail is crucial due to the presence of fire and cleaning chemicals. The role involves repetitive bending and lifting up to 30 pounds, as well as the ability to stand and walk for extended periods. The incumbent must be prepared to respond to emergency situations.
