X-Ray Technologist Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations to help diagnose or decide the optimal procedure for patients.
  • Create a comfortable and tranquil environment for patients to ensure they adhere to examination instructions.
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing all radiographic procedures and operating related equipment.
  • Provide excellent patient care, protecting patients from excessive radiation and observing vital signs during examinations.
  • Provide coverage as needed, including call-outs and extended patient schedules.
  • Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires and maintain CPR certification.
  • Perform procedures in compliance with Standards of Care, facility, and regulatory requirements, and ARRT Standards of Ethics.
  • Maintain quality standards related to HIPAA regulations and demonstrate a positive patient experience.
  • Submit images of diagnostic quality without recommendation of additional image acquisition and perform quality assurance on images and equipment.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) certified and NY State license in Radiologic Technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the department's computerized system and its associated devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine.
  • 1+ years of experience in general radiologic technology.
