We are seeking a skilled Child Life Specialist to provide emotional and social support to patients and their families in our pediatric department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will conduct educational and recreational programs to minimize the psychological trauma of hospitalized infants, children, and adolescents.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patients' fears and anxieties regarding hospitalization and develop coping mechanisms to facilitate a healthy adaptation to stressful experiences.
- Create therapeutic plans for patients that incorporate developmentally appropriate intervention and play activities for the bedside and playroom.
- Conduct medical play with patients to facilitate their understanding of medical procedures and reduce anxiety.
- Initiate and maintain supportive professional relationships with patients and their families to assist them in understanding the developmental and emotional needs of their hospitalized child.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences and provide in-services to nursing staff, students, and community agencies on principles of child development and emotional aspects of the hospitalized child.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to promote visibility of pediatric services and provide emotional support for siblings.
- Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a related field.
- National Certified Child Life Specialist - Association of Child Life Professionals.
- Two years of clinical experience preferred.
