About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Elevator Mechanic to join our team at Consolidated Edison Company of New York. As an Elevator Mechanic, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing elevators and other lifting devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair elevators and other lifting devices, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubricating moving parts, inspecting electrical systems, and testing safety devices.
- Diagnose and repair complex problems with elevators and other lifting devices, using advanced troubleshooting techniques and tools.
- Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions, as required.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to resolve complex issues and improve system performance.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure optimal system performance and safety.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and prevent accidents.
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in elevator maintenance, repair, and installation.
- NYS Elevator Mechanic License required; NYC Elevator Agency Technician License preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.
- Ability to lift 45-60 pounds, work in confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent deadlines and changing priorities.
- Work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions, as required.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental hazards.
- May be required to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
