Job Summary

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Generalist uses expertise in education and professional development practices to improve the healthcare practice of nursing and allied staff. This role functions in collaboration with staff, leadership, faculty, and researchers to develop, implement, and evaluate professional development programs that influence professional role competence, continuous learning, and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze issues, forecast trends, and supporting data to determine the learning needs of individuals, service lines, and organizations.
  • Collect data systematically and purposefully from various sources, including direct observation of nursing practice, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team, professional organizations, regulatory agencies, consumers, healthcare experts, health-related trends, key stakeholders, and legislative venues.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate high-quality, culturally sensitive, and complex educational activities, programs, or projects for staff at all stages of their career development based on identified knowledge and practice gaps.
  • Engage stakeholders and resources in the planning and implementation of lifelong learning activities for individuals and/or groups of learners.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices in collaboration with others to ensure that nursing and the organization's goals and mission are in alignment.

Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree.
  • 3 years of relevant experience, 3-5 years clinical experience.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Michigan Upon Hire required.
  • Board Cert Nursing Professional Development (BC-NPD) - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS INSTR) - AHA American Heart Association preferred.
Work Environment

Variable shifts, Monday to Friday, with variable weekends.
