Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious CDL Route Driver to join our team at Palmer Bus Financial Management, Inc. As a CDL Route Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, as well as transporting students and school district authorized passengers on field trips, activities, and special outings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Trip Inspections: Perform DOT required pre-trip inspections and complete a radio check before starting each route.
  • Student Safety: Pick-up students at assigned stops, ensuring children safely board the bus and are seated before proceeding to the next stop. Enforce rules for proper discipline during ride and report any incidents to the Site Manager.
  • Bus Operations: Safely operate the bus by following all traffic laws, state and federal transit regulations. Carefully navigate roads, watch for ice, debris, or slippery stops, and follow safety procedures to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
  • Post-Trip Procedures: Check the bus upon arrival at the bus garage to ensure that there is no child left on the bus. Properly maintain the bus by keeping fuel levels above half a tank or filled up after the completion of a trip.
  • Accident Reporting: Report accidents immediately to the Site Manager and complete the accident report promptly.
Requirements
  • Commercial Driver's License: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Minnesota Commercial Driver's License with passenger, school bus, and air brake endorsements.
  • Safety Knowledge: Strong knowledge of safety practices and procedures, including emergency evacuation techniques and basic first aid.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including students, parents, and school staff.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for long periods, walk, and stand as required by the job.
