Department Overview:
Become part of the largest long-term care facility in South Dakota, offering a variety of services including general long-term care, short-stay rehabilitation, and specialized memory care.

Position Summary:
The Senior Nursing Assistant (CNA) acts as a proficient caregiver to residents during their scheduled shifts in long-term care settings.
Demonstrates a high level of expertise as a certified nursing assistant while providing support to fellow staff members as necessary.
Delivers resident-focused nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under the guidance of a registered nurse (RN).
Possesses knowledge of and provides age-appropriate care addressing the physical and psychological needs of residents as outlined in their care plans.
As a vital member of the nursing team, the Senior CNA is accountable for adhering to infection prevention protocols and utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriately.
Often serves as a resource for other clinical staff while maintaining personal responsibilities and leading in problem-solving efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with essential health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and obtaining vital signs.
- Support residents in mobility tasks, including transferring and repositioning, using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Facilitate a positive dining experience by assisting with meal preparation and serving.
- Aid nursing staff with procedures as required and document resident interactions and care outcomes.
- Communicate any changes in residents' conditions to the charge nurse promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness in residents' living areas and assist with housekeeping tasks.
- Encourage resident participation in wellness and recreational programs.
- May be involved in departmental committees and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum age of 16 with two years of clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing.
- Completion of annual competency testing and continuing education credits is mandatory.
- May need to complete Restorative Nursing training within six months.
- For applicable states, certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry may be required.
