About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our Health Information Management department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with federal and insurance regulations, as well as organizational policies and protocols
  • Conduct independent research to stay up-to-date on coding guidelines, regulatory policies, and industry trends
  • Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and complete documentation
  • Meet or exceed departmental quality and productivity standards
Requirements
  • Coding Certification issued by AAPC or AHIMA
  • Advanced training in Medical Coding or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in professional coding, including experience in hospital or professional revenue cycle processes and health information workflows
