Salary: $21.6346/hr.
The Child and Youth Care Facilitator plays a crucial role in supervising pregnant and parenting residents, ensuring a nurturing and constructive living environment. This position is dedicated to fostering the development of essential independent living skills among the pregnant and parenting teens we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and support pregnant and parenting teens, actively engaging in the implementation of recreational and structured programming for residents. Instruct on independent living skills (e.g., laundry, cleaning, cooking) and effective parenting techniques (positive role modeling); co-facilitate groups as needed; participate in the training and application of Trauma Systems Therapy and the successful integration of a strengths-based behavior management system among residents, maintaining a thriving therapeutic environment.
2. Provide safe childcare and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for all children in the program.
3. Attend to the needs of children, including changing diapers, bathing, dressing, and feeding, as required. Assist with meal preparation for residents in the absence of the program cook.
4. Administer medications to adolescent mothers, pregnant teens, and children as instructed, ensuring accurate documentation on required forms.
5. Prepare accommodations for new admissions (sanitize and clean room, make bed with fresh linens, create a welcoming environment) and facilitate orientation for new residents (review program manual) while ensuring proper medical clearances.
6. Uphold expectations of the primary role once selected and implement trauma-informed responses with youth.
7. Assist pregnant and parenting residents in developing effective parenting skills and positive behaviors while promoting independence.
8. Adhere to agency rules, policies, and procedures, as well as uphold program standard operating procedures for specialists and residents.
9. Ensure timely submission of proper documentation, including daily shift logs, program notes on residents, medication reports, and incident reports; report all problems or unusual situations to the appropriate personnel and document critical incidents in the communication log.
10. Conduct room checks at least every 30 minutes throughout the shift, as required by regulations and program policy.
11. Review the communication log at the beginning of each shift and accurately document occurrences throughout your shift.
12. Prepare rooms for new admissions (i.e., sanitize and clean room, make bed with fresh linens, create a welcoming environment).
13. Collaborate with the case planning team to ensure youth goals are identified and consistently monitored.
Additional Responsibilities:
14. Promote and maintain a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for residents.
15. Escort residents to medical appointments and school as directed.
16. Participate in orientation for new client admissions, treatment updates, and case planning meetings.
17. Ensure all residents attend structured program activities, including therapeutic groups, independent living groups, parenting groups, and tutoring sessions.
18. Remain flexible and adaptable to changing duties and schedules to meet program needs.
19. Stay on shift until your relief has arrived.
20. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 12 years of experience working with pregnant and parenting teens; 1-2 years of experience caring for infants and toddlers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to engage with challenging adolescents.
- Knowledge of pregnancy, infant development, and adolescent development.
- Ability to support, nurture, and guide children and youth in a structured environment.
Scheduled Work Hours: 40 hours per week
Work Schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 PM - 7:30 AM
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
License/Certification:
Driver's License required. Demonstrated strong commitment to safety.
