Ultrasound Imaging Technologist Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ultrasound Imaging Technologist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for preparing and performing ultrasound procedures to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct sonography/ultrasound screening, ensuring safe equipment function and optimal imaging quality.
  • Read and comprehend imaging orders, engaging with radiologists when necessary.
  • Interview patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history, ensuring a safe and effective examination.
  • Select appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy and pathology.
  • Guide patients through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience in a clinical imaging role, with three years specifically in ultrasound/sonography.
  • Registration as an Ultrasound/Sonography technologist from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Good understanding of human anatomy.
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex radiology orders.
  • Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional continuing education registration in sonography specializations.
