Master Electrician

We are seeking an experienced electrician to join our team at Virginia Tech. As a Master Electrician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial food service equipment, including refrigeration equipment, water cooled ice machines, gas and electric cooking equipment, dishwashing and pot washing machines, and commercial appliances.

• Utilize wiring diagrams, blueprints, manufactured specifications, hand and power tools, testing meters and calibrators, and welding equipment to provide diagnoses and repairs.
• Assist Supervisor/Manager with planning/implementing preventive maintenance programs.
• Provide hands-on training to support the needs of the operations.

• Considerable experience in maintenance and repair of commercial food service equipment.
• Education/training in food service equipment repair, electronics, and refrigeration/electrical repair.
• Ability to operate and analyze information from testing equipment.
• Working knowledge of computers to submit and close work orders.
• Virginia Journeyman electrical license or license recognized by the state of Virginia required.
• To obtain universal EPA refrigeration certification within 6 months of employment.

• Associates degree and/or master's electrician certification in a trades occupation certified in Virginia or a license recognized by the state of Virginia plus type III or universal EPA refrigeration certification.

We offer a competitive salary range of $50,000 - $60,000/year and commensurate with experience. Additionally, you will receive a food voucher to have a meal in one of our award-winning dining centers with every 4+ hour shift worked.

Work hours are Monday - Friday 6:00 - 3:00 PM and according to customer needs.
