Job Title: Electrical Systems Specialist

Virginia Tech is seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to install, maintain, and repair commercial food service equipment. This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities by utilizing wiring diagrams, blueprints, and testing equipment to diagnose and repair equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair commercial food service equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Utilize testing equipment and tools to diagnose and repair electrical systems and equipment
  • Assist with planning and implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan
  • Provide hands-on training and support to operations staff on electrical systems and equipment

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in electrical systems maintenance and repair, with a focus on commercial food service equipment
  • Training in electrical systems, electronics, and refrigeration
  • Ability to analyze information from testing equipment and make informed decisions
  • Working knowledge of submitting work orders and maintaining accurate records
  • Virginia Journeyman electrical license or equivalent
  • EPA refrigeration certification required within 6 months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or master's certification in electrical systems or a related field
  • Type III or universal EPA refrigeration certification

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000/year based on experience. Additional benefits include a competitive benefits package, regular work hours Monday - Friday, and a dynamic work environment at Virginia Tech.
