Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of custodial operations to ensure the upkeep of City buildings and facilities.
  • Assign and perform custodial duties as necessary to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Provide training and direction to custodial staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Conduct regular building inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
  • Coordinate with the Facilities Custodial Supervisor to ensure that all custodial activities are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including floor buffers, scrubbers, vacuums, and carpet cleaning equipment.
  • Assist with the dissemination of policies, directives, and procedures to custodial staff.
  • Perform general custodial duties, including stripping and waxing floors, carpet care, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing furniture.
  • Disinfect and sanitize hard surfaces, frequently touched surfaces, and other high-touch areas.
  • Empties trash containers and picks up debris.
  • Dust vent grills throughout facilities.
  • Washes glass surfaces, including windows, doors, and desktops.
  • Performs tile maintenance, including stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of custodial equipment, including reporting any excessive repairs or maintenance needs.
  • Cleans and sanitizes locker rooms, including showers, restroom areas, sinks, counter surfaces, urinals, and toilets.
  • Replace soap and paper products as needed.
  • Coordinates and assists with City facility set-up for meetings, including brewing coffee and furnishing condiments, setting up tables and chairs, and providing audio/visual equipment as specified by room set-up request.
  • Ensures building security by checking to see that all doors are locked and the building is clear each night through visual inspection.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in building custodial maintenance.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a lead capacity; previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Justice Information and Services (CJIS) background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a facilities management or custodial services role.
  • Knowledge of custodial maintenance and floor care practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English; Spanish speaking is a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is performed inside City facilities and occasionally on the surrounding grounds. Works near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and various chemicals, some of which may be toxic. The employee is exposed to various conditions, including wet, hot, and cold conditions.
