Position Overview
As the Director of the Physical Therapist Assistant program, you will oversee the educational initiatives, manage the accredited curriculum, and design the teaching timetable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise the department staff, ensuring effective teaching assignments are prepared.
  • Establish and implement departmental objectives and goals.
  • Analyze student success metrics and devise strategies to minimize withdrawals, while actively engaging with students to promote retention.
  • Oversee the departmental budget and financial activities, making necessary adjustments to maintain a sustainable program.
  • Organize educational workshops and in-service training for both didactic and clinical faculty, and prepare instructional materials that align with course objectives.
  • Maintain accurate student records and grades in accordance with institutional policies, ensuring timely updates at the end of each semester.
  • Assess student performance against course objectives and provide support to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate students' clinical performance and collaborate with site instructors to enhance clinical education.
  • Coordinate both clinical and theoretical education components of the PTA program, revising the clinical education framework as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with CAPTE regulations by notifying them of all program changes and submitting required documentation and fees.
  • Assist in the preparation of graduation reports, licensing results, and placement statistics in collaboration with the Director of Regulatory Affairs.
  • Work towards achieving and maintaining full accreditation within the stipulated timeframe, communicating annual report outcomes to CAPTE.
  • Develop and sustain a comprehensive curriculum in accordance with approved standards, evaluating course content and integrating new educational resources.
  • Fulfill the role of a Physical Therapist Assistant instructor as needed.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Graduation from a CAPTE accredited Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • A minimum of five years of full-time or equivalent post-licensure experience in the field, including at least three years of clinical practice.
  • Completion of nine academic semester credits in educational foundations.
  • Experience in clinical practice, teaching, administration, and educational methodologies.
  • Current licensure or certification as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in accordance with state regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
