About the Role

The Department of Neurosurgery at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an accomplished leader to serve as the Director of Functional Neurosurgery. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a renowned academic institution and contribute to the advancement of functional neurosurgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a comprehensive functional neurosurgery program at UT Dell Medical School and Ascension Texas.
  • Collaborate with neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other clinician specialists to deliver care through a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in research programs and contribute to the development of new functional neurosurgery technologies and resources.
  • Train and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in clinical management, models of care, research, and education in functional disorders.
  • Work with department leadership to assess program needs and recruit faculty and staff.
Qualifications
  • Medical degree from an LCME-accredited medical school.
  • Successful completion of training in an ACGME-accredited neurosurgical residency.
  • Current board certification or tracking towards board certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching, evaluation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, direct, and influence a team and history of positive and productive teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other clinician specialists in a comprehensive functional program.
  • Experience delivering care through a multidisciplinary team and program.
