About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Subsurface Utility Engineer to join our team at Colliers Engineering & Design. As a key member of our Utilities/Energy team, you will play a critical role in helping us deliver safe and sustainable solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with a team of talented individuals to tackle a wide range of projects.
  • Read and interpret utility records, as-built and survey drawings, and highway design plans to identify potential conflicts.
  • Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies to ensure accurate mapping.
  • Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck to expose utilities and perform test holes.
  • Utilize appropriate maintenance of traffic to ensure public safety.
  • Coordinate survey work with SUE teams to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Supervise activities of field crew members and train junior crew members to ensure knowledge transfer.
  • Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field and communicate with utility companies to resolve conflicts.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in using electromagnetic and geophysical designation technologies.
  • Experience with vacuum excavation is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
  • High level of reading comprehension and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and occasionally travel out of town.
  • Good driving skills and a clean driving record.
  • Prioritize the safety of yourself and others in the field.
