Position Summary

We are in search of a highly qualified and experienced Lead Ecological Risk Consultant to become a vital part of our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in ecological risk evaluation and demonstrate outstanding leadership and interpersonal abilities. In this position, you will oversee a team of skilled professionals, nurture client relationships, and mentor junior staff members.

Key Responsibilities

Ecological Risk Evaluation:

  • Direct the design and execution of site-specific ecological risk evaluations as part of remedial investigations, particularly for contaminated sediment assessments, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Conduct and supervise data analyses, including wildlife dietary modeling, ecotoxicity data interpretation, and bioavailability assessments, while preparing comprehensive ecological risk evaluation reports.
  • Facilitate risk-based remedial decision-making based on ecological risk evaluation findings to establish risk-based remedial objectives and assess the effectiveness of remedial options.
  • Advocate for the technical outcomes of ecological risk evaluations and engage with regulatory agencies to determine risk-based remedial objectives and strategies.
  • Design and implement long-term monitoring strategies to assess the effectiveness of remediation efforts.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, advancements, and emerging issues related to ecological risk evaluation, participating in technical conferences to promote innovative approaches.

Project Management:

  • Oversee multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely and successful delivery within budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate ecological risk evaluations into broader environmental impact assessments and natural resource damage assessments.

Quality Control:

  • Establish and maintain stringent quality control processes to uphold the highest standards in ecological risk evaluation methodologies and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in biology, chemistry, ecology, environmental science, toxicology, or a related discipline.
  • 12+ years of experience in ecological risk evaluation, with a proven track record of successful project management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities, with experience in mentoring and developing team members.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and environmental legislation.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
