Behavioral Health Care Specialist

Delivers direct and indirect care to patients receiving psychiatric care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Key Responsibilities:- Meet patient care needs and assumes responsibility for patient data collection.
- Provides assigned care of psychiatric patients using age-related interventions.
- Uses therapeutic communication skills and assists with therapeutic and recreational activities as necessary.
- High School Education/GED or equivalent preferred.
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred.
- Two years' experience in acute or long-term mental healthcare hospital preferred.
- Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) licensure in state of practice preferred.
- Uses de-escalation techniques and less restrictive interventions when providing nursing care.
- Plans for meeting the daily care needs of assigned patients, including evaluating common problems, identifying symptoms and behavioral changes, obtaining and reviewing medical data, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes.
- Processes admissions and discharges, and completes intake interviews and orientation as needed.
