Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our team at St. David's Medical Center. As a key member of our emergency department, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team, and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients upon admission to the emergency center and provide comprehensive nursing care
  • Perform and document patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history
  • Appraise and document patient and family educational and psychosocial needs and make appropriate referrals
  • Report changes in patient condition to supervisor and physician
  • Administer and document medications
  • Report patient needs to appropriate hospital personnel
  • Provide comprehensive inter-shift reports
Requirements
  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department
  • Experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute care setting OR capstone rotation in St. Davids Healthcare facilities preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) from accredited Nursing program
  • Current enrollment in Alternate Entry Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) program
  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. Davids Healthcare policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) OR Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification per St. Davids Healthcare policy within 6 months
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) OR Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENCP) certification per St. Davids Healthcare policy required within 24 months of hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification per St. Davids Healthcare policy required within 24 months of hire
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification per St. Davids Healthcare policy required within 12 months of hire

St. David's Medical Center is a full-service hospital located in central Austin, Texas. This 300+ bed facility features a 24-hour emergency department, the region's largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the internationally-renowned Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and St. David's Neuroscience & Spine Institute.
