Overview

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aviation Safety Inspector - Operations to join our team. As an Aviation Safety Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of the nation's aviation system.

The FAA's Office of Safety oversees all aspects of air carrier operations, including airline safety programs, operational control systems, and emergency preparedness. Our inspectors are responsible for conducting regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with federal regulations and standards.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to serve as an Aviation Safety Inspector - Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting on-site inspections of airlines, airports, and other aviation-related facilities to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and standards.

About the Role

This position requires a strong background in aviation safety, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be expected to develop and maintain relationships with airline representatives, airport management, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting on-site inspections of airlines, airports, and other aviation-related facilities to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and standards
  • Evaluating airline safety programs, operational control systems, and emergency preparedness procedures
  • Identifying areas of non-compliance and developing corrective action plans to address these issues
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with airline representatives, airport management, and other stakeholders
  • Providing technical assistance and guidance to airlines and airports to improve their safety performance

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field related to aviation or a closely related field, such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics
  • At least 2 years of experience in a relevant field, such as airline safety, regulatory affairs, or auditing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • A strong background in aviation safety, including knowledge of FAA regulations and standards
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage multiple projects simultaneously
