Environmental Service Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Environmental Service Worker to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our Environmental Services Department, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all cleaning functions following established procedures in a timely and efficient manner.
- Use properly labeled cleaning supplies for each job as instructed.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition and use supplies economically.
- Clean and disinfect all areas of the facility, including patient rooms, common areas, and equipment.
- Wash and polish furniture and metal surfaces.
- Sweep and mop floors, and strip and seal or wax as needed.
- Replenish liquid soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
- Move furniture and equipment as needed to facilitate cleaning and maintenance.
- Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner.
- Transport Red-Bag garbage to the Sani-Pak area and insert into the Sani-Pak receptacle.
- Perform related duties as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in an industrial or hospital setting preferred.
- Effective communication skills in English (speaking and reading).
- Demonstrated competency in the use of buffing and scrubbing machines, vacuum cleaners, and extractor machines.
- Ability to lift and carry 15 pounds.
- Ability to ambulate, up and down stairs, and bend at knees repeatedly during shift.
