- Perform hard floor care and various levels of carpet care to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Provide moving services throughout the University, ensuring the safe and efficient relocation of equipment and materials.
- Collect, store, and dispose of various waste generated within the University, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Set up functional areas according to requests, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Perform various grounds cleaning tasks, including snow removal, to maintain a safe and accessible environment.
- Operate University vehicles and vehicular equipment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and professional uniform appearance at all times.
- Conduct a final check and clean up at the end of each shift, ensuring a clean and safe environment for the next shift.
- Understand and adhere to Rutgers' compliance standards, including the Corporate Compliance Policy, Corporate Integrity Agreement, Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest Policy, and HIPAA.
- Interact with individuals of all ages in a diverse, multicultural environment with respect and consideration.
- Comply with the attendance policies of Rutgers and the Environmental Services Department to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to carry out the duties of the position.
- Prior experience in institutional environmental services is preferred.
- Valid driver's license is preferred.
The Environmental Services Worker will work in a fast-paced environment, exposed to various conditions, including:
- Wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
- Bloodborne pathogens that require the use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Dust, fumes, or airborne particles
- Toxic or caustic chemicals that require the use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Outdoor weather conditions
- Risk of electrical shock
- Risk of radiation
- Hazardous waste
The position requires work near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places. The typical amounts of noise for the position are moderate to loud noise.
