Key Responsibilities

The Senior Enterprise Vault Engineer is responsible for the administration and engineering of the Veritas Enterprise Vault and Discovery Accelerator platforms. This role involves ensuring the operational integrity and high availability of these systems, which includes training, routine maintenance, and incident management. The systems are hosted on both physical and virtual Windows Servers, with geographically distributed data centers for operational continuity and extensive attached storage. Key tasks include:

  • Engaging in technical discussions to review and support program goals.
  • Executing configurations, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting based on current engineering documentation.
  • Documenting configuration change requests through the established change control process.
  • Managing storage requests, migrations, and decommissioning tasks.
  • Monitoring system components for failures and coordinating necessary support.
  • Responding to alerts and warnings with appropriate corrective measures and escalations.
  • Completing scheduled maintenance in line with established policies.
  • Ensuring data integrity and preventing outages through meticulous maintenance practices.
  • Overseeing technology in remote settings.
  • Reviewing and addressing tickets related to supported systems per service level agreements.
  • Providing initial response and escalation for system outages.
  • Timely scheduling of maintenance activities.
  • Creating scripts in PowerShell and VBS for routine task automation.
  • Conducting daily system checks to verify hardware and resource availability.
  • Reviewing logs to confirm the completion of scheduled operations like backups.
  • Regularly applying OS patches and upgrades, along with administrative tools and user applications.
  • Configuring and adding new services as required.
  • Researching and proposing innovative, automated solutions for system administration tasks.
  • Preparing and evaluating technical assessments, including required tasks and estimated timelines for projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Active Clearance: Top Secret with SSBI and capability to obtain SCI clearance.
  • 4 years of experience as a Systems Engineer/Administrator.
  • 2 years of experience in the architecture and design of complex high-availability systems.
  • 3 years of experience with Enterprise Vault.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience as a Systems Engineer/Administrator.
  • 4 years of experience in architecting and designing complex high-availability systems.
  • 5 years of experience with Enterprise Vault.
  • Experience in resolving customer support issues.
  • Active Clearance: Top Secret with SSBI and ability to obtain SCI clearance.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2010 and 2013 administration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012 in extensive physical and virtual environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of DNS, WINS, DHCP, and LDAP directories.
  • Strong grasp of IT infrastructure and network architecture.
  • Experience with VMware virtualization and related tools.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery processes and messaging components.
  • Expertise in email archival systems and system administration.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and strong troubleshooting skills, as well as collaboratively in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Flexibility to work outside of core hours when necessary.
