Position Overview:
The Nutritional Services Assistant plays a vital role in the food preparation and service operations within the healthcare environment. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including assisting in the patient tray line, managing the hot food table, and providing support in grill and sandwich service. Additional duties include loading and unloading the dish machine, washing pots, removing trash, and maintaining cleanliness by sweeping and mopping floors, as well as sanitizing food service equipment and work areas.
The role also encompasses various food service area setup and closing procedures, along with cashiering responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute food service tasks to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and their families, both verbally and in writing.
- Perform a diverse range of food service duties, including cashiering, sandwich preparation, grill operations, salad bar setup, cleaning, and restocking.
- Ensure work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition through regular cleaning tasks.
- Undertake additional special assignments as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced customer service environment.
- Previous experience in a cafeteria-style food service setting is preferred.
- Must be able to pass drug screenings and background checks.
