About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Dollar General. As a key member of our Private Fleet Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of trailers and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Sr. Fleet Maintenance Manager in achieving site goals and metrics.
  • Direct the work of trailer repair mechanics to maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Manage daily vehicle work orders to ensure timely repair and determine action to be taken on hostling truck and trailer breakdowns.
  • Oversee the clean-up of hazardous waste material spills and maintain the sanitation and physical condition of the repair facility.
  • Maintain vendor relationships for road breakdowns and ensure fleet DOT compliance and completion of scheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Assist with the training of new mechanics and establish vendor relationships to obtain reasonable parts purchase prices.
  • Promote a culture of safety by evaluating the safety performance of all employees and ensuring proper safety measures are in place.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience working on class 8 trailers, heavy diesel trucks, and trailer maintenance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to use Microsoft word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to use trailer maintenance management software packages and develop required trailer repair mechanic skill sets.
  • Vocational skills training as a tradesperson (mechanical, welding, hydraulic) and refrigeration knowledge/experience.
Working Conditions
  • Exposed to various climatic conditions of extreme heat or cold.
  • Walking long distances and sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Fast-paced environment with exposure to noise.
