About the Job:

The National Apartment Association is seeking a Senior Legislative Policy Manager to join its government relations team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting federal legislation and regulations impacting the apartment industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret federal legislation and regulations affecting the apartment industry.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Members of Congress, Congressional staffs, industry associations, and other stakeholders to advocate for NAA's policy priorities.
  • Lead a team of lobbyists in the development and implementation of effective lobbying strategies.
  • Communicate complex policy information to membership and senior leadership.
  • Participate in coalition-building efforts to advance shared policy objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., political science, public policy, or law).
  • At least 10 years of experience in federal legislative affairs, including team management and lobbying expertise.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A proven track record of successfully influencing legislation and shaping public policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of the apartment industry and relevant federal policies.
  • Familiarity with association management software and technology platforms.

Compensation and Benefits:

NAA offers a highly competitive salary range of $185,000-$190,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. Location: This role is based in our Arlington, VA office, with a hybrid-remote work arrangement that requires at least two days per week in the office.
