About the Role

Meals on Wheels America seeks a skilled Public Policy and Legislation Senior Manager to support its advocacy efforts. This position will play a crucial role in shaping the organization's public policy and legislative initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze key policy, legislative, and regulatory issues affecting senior hunger and isolation.
  • Conduct research and develop materials to inform policy positions and communicate complex ideas to various audiences.
  • Develop concise briefing documents, issue papers, and summaries of key public policy, legislative, and regulatory issues.
  • Participate in drafting public correspondence, testimony, and comments consistent with Meals on Wheels America's mission and priorities.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to develop communications and maintain consistent messaging.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and milestones to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Contribute to publications and presentations issued by Meals on Wheels America.
  • Coordinate with advocates and national organizations on public policy input, letters, and calls to action.
  • Represent Meals on Wheels America at external meetings, coalitions, and on Capitol Hill.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of four years' experience working in congressional or legislative affairs, anti-hunger or aging (seniors) organizations, health policy, or related fields.
  • Thorough knowledge of the legislative process and U.S. food and nutrition programs affecting vulnerable communities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to identify and target audiences.
  • Experience working with diverse groups and applying a racial equity lens to their work and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to create positive collaborative relationships with external partners.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, including ability to conduct research and in-depth analysis of complex policy issues.
  • Computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Teams and Office suite.

What We Offer:

  • An estimated salary range of $77,500 - $87,500 based on location and experience.
  • A flexible hybrid working arrangement with no weekly in-office requirement.
