Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in Pneumatic Systems is essential for the enhancement and upkeep of waste management technologies. This role reports to the Director and involves advanced mechanical engineering tasks, particularly in pneumatic systems. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong technical skills, independent decision-making, and the capability to manage intricate responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Expert Consultation:

Act as a leading authority on pneumatic systems within the waste management sector.

Offer expert advice and insights on complex engineering challenges related to pneumatic machinery.

2. Proposal Management:

Supervise the creation and assessment of detailed proposals and documentation.

Analyze proposals and suggest suitable actions based on industry standards.

3. Advocacy and Presentation:

Promote innovative approaches and enhancements in waste management practices.

4. Documentation and Compliance:

Ensure meticulous records of all engineering activities are maintained.

5. Technical Diagnostics and Maintenance:

Identify, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic systems utilized in waste management.

Conduct predictive and preventive maintenance on pneumatic components.

Address challenges related to fatigue, wear, and stress in pneumatic systems.

6. Collaboration and Leadership:

Work alongside diverse teams to improve waste management efficiency.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

7. Flexibility and Adaptability:

As needed, perform responsibilities at lower assignment levels to ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications

(1) A minimum of four (4) years of relevant mechanical engineering experience; and

(2) A valid New York State Professional Engineer License, which must be maintained throughout employment.

A master's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution may substitute for one year of required experience.

Special Note:

To qualify for higher assignment levels, candidates must have at least one year of recent experience as a key contributor or project leader on a complex engineering project.
