About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our team at the University of Missouri System. As a key member of our Neurodiagnostics department, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explain test procedures to patients and provide psychological support to ensure quality test results.
  • Record and score sleep/wake results, differentiating between procedure quality and patient cooperation.
  • Collaborate with physicians to inform them of patients' psychological status and environmental conditions during procedures.
  • Adapt test methods and instrumentation to obtain optimal patient results.
  • Clean, calibrate, and process sleep equipment and sensors, reporting needs to leadership.
  • Recognize medically emergent situations and take appropriate actions.
  • Complete necessary documentation and billing.
  • Perform limited office, secretarial, and patient transport duties.
  • Mentor Polysomnographic Technicians and assist leadership with new hire onboarding and training.
Requirements
  • Registration in one of the following: Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialty (CRT-SDS) or (RRT-SDS).
  • Associate's degree in a science or health-related field.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Physical Demands

This role requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. The position also comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Rotating shifts, holiday, and work during inclement weather will be required.
