Job Summary

The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Engineer I or II to join our team. As a key member of our Regional Wastewater Programs team, you will provide professional and technical support to the Blue Plains 2012 Intermunicipal Agreement and its associated committees and subcommittees.

Responsibilities include providing expert decision support, policy and technical assistance, and facilitation assistance to senior appointed officials and lead technical professionals on wastewater issues. You will also work closely with the water resources team to support regional wastewater and water quality programs.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in wastewater systems, including design, construction, operation, and maintenance. Experience working on project planning studies and focused research activities is also highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert decision support and policy and technical assistance to senior appointed officials and lead technical professionals on wastewater issues.

  • Conduct project planning studies and focused research activities.
  • Collaborate with local government members and affiliated wastewater and drinking water utilities to protect, restore, and conserve water resources.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Sanitary, Environmental, or a related Engineering field.
  • One to two years of experience in water resources or a related field.
  • Strong background in wastewater systems, including design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Experience working on project planning studies and focused research activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
