About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Director to join our team at Dechra. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the execution of preventative and corrective maintenance of our production equipment assets to achieve targeted reliability and equipment Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Key Responsibilities
  • Reliability and Maintenance Strategy
    • Develop and implement a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program to deliver targeted equipment reliability and OEE.
    • Drive continued development and optimization of the TPM program.
  • Maintenance Problem Solving and Troubleshooting
    • Lead and/or guide maintenance problem solving and troubleshooting to identify root cause; develop timely solutions; participate in execution of work as needed; and communicate outcomes to all interested parties.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
    • Perform and approve actions related to the CMMS as required.
  • Inventory Management and Spare Parts
    • Manage inventory of spare parts required for equipment maintenance ensuring spend is controlled within budget and critical spares are readily available.
    • Work with the Engineering Planner/Buyer to optimize the spare parts sourcing network and supplier relations contracts to deliver cost efficiencies.
  • Change Control and Equipment Modification
    • Initiate change controls for replacement or modification of equipment and support development of User Requirement Specifications.
  • Maintenance Resource Management
    • Manage maintenance resources to prioritize tasks, optimize available resources, and utilize all opportunities to maximize engineering effectiveness.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Manage, motivate, mentor, and engage the maintenance team to deliver a valued service to their customers; consistently high maintenance standards at the right cost; and promote a "can do" attitude both individually and as a team.
    • Complete all Dechra people management activities and identify appropriate development activities for assigned staff.
  • Compliance and Quality
    • Ensure full compliance with site Standard Operating Procedures and applicable regulatory requirements, and that tasks are performed in accordance with cGMP, EHS, loss prevention Company processes.
    • Investigate and document quality events related to maintenance and/or failures of equipment.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Provide regular updates and reports to demonstrate maintenance team performance against identified objectives and identify potential challenges.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Associate degree in engineering or closely related discipline required. Higher-level degree in engineering or closely related discipline and/or Professional certification in maintenance management desirable.
  • Technical Skills
    • Minimum of 7 years of progressive maintenance experience, including a prior management role required.
    • Experience working in a cGMP environment, experience with application of LEAN/six-sigma tools and principles and knowledge and application of ISO14001, OHSAS18001, ISO 9001 standards desirable.
  • Soft Skills
    • Detailed knowledge of pharmaceutical technology, equipment, and practical application of engineering principles.
    • Significant knowledge of TPM and how to implement and execute an effective program.
    • Application of problem-solving with a proven record of resolving major issues at their root cause.
    • Strong people management and development skills.
    • Leading teams and managing multiple objectives and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Compliance mindset with a working knowledge of applicable Quality and EHS regulations.
    • Proven technical writing ability to document cGMP changes, investigations, etc.
    • Computer literate with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and CMMS systems.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Proficient/fluent in English. Fully bilingual English/Spanish desirable.
