Activities Coordinator Responsibilities

The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing programs tailored to the unique needs of our residents. These programs aim to address psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being while fostering self-esteem in a supportive environment. The coordinator will assist in all aspects of programming.

  • Contributes to the creation and execution of an engaging daily program for residents.
  • Facilitates individual, small group, and large group activities in alignment with the programming calendar.
  • Encourages and guides residents in pursuing independent activities, both individually and in small groups.
  • Recognizes that all facets of care can be viewed as an activity, supporting residents' capabilities.
  • Maintains knowledge of residents' backgrounds, participation preferences, physical abilities, interests, cognitive levels, and attention spans.
  • Reports any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors to the Life Enrichment Director.
  • Assists in the planning, development, organization, and execution of all community activities.
  • Generates ideas and suggestions for enhancing and broadening the Activities Program.
  • Fosters a professional, warm, and caring rapport with residents and their families.
  • Assists in coordinating transportation and accompaniment for residents to community events.
  • Contributes to the monthly newsletter and/or weekly activity calendar.
  • Participates in mandatory ongoing training sessions and orientation.
  • May be required to drive residents in a van as needed.
  • Capable of multitasking and working independently.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience with knowledge of aging and disability issues is preferred.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and community interactions.
  • Demonstrates an ability to connect with and perform job duties for the elderly in a positive and effective manner.
  • Exhibits a consistent ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain a positive demeanor, and thrive under pressure.
