Job Summary

The Surgical Preservation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all organ donor perfusion and preservation processes, leading a team of medical professionals, and managing the recovery process of solid organs. This role requires advanced anatomical knowledge, technical expertise, and strong leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure optimal recovery process adherence to regulatory policies and organizational procedures.
  • Perform perfusion, packaging, and labeling of donated organs, and complete regulatory documentation.
  • Assist the organ recovery physician with organ removal and perform aseptic kidney pumping/pulsatile machine perfusion.
  • Prepare deceased donor kidneys for perfusion, including cannulation, anatomical review, and fat removal.
  • Work with procuring surgeons to obtain anatomy and biopsies, and relay biopsy reports to transplant centers.
  • Administer medications to preservation solutions and pumped kidneys, and coordinate logistical management of surgical teams and organs.
  • Set up necessary OR equipment and instruments, distribute organs and specimens, and complete required documentation.
Requirements
  • Surgical Technician or Certified Surgical Technologist with 1 year of Operating Room experience, or equivalent training and experience in organ preservation, transplantation, and/or surgical/sterile techniques.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable automobile, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Maintain current licensures and certifications, and required vaccinations and health screenings.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work with a team, and attention to detail required.
