The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in ENT/Ortho Surgical Specialties. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide direct patient care to assigned patients in a 30-bed Medical Surgical unit, providing care to adult patients with post-operative conditions.

Orthopedic procedures include digit and limb re-implantation, joint replacement, re-constructive surgery, and the latest in internal and external fixation of fractures. In addition, nurses care for Head and Neck (ENT) as well as Plastic surgery patients, including microvascular free flaps.

The needs of the surgical patient bring together the physician, nurse, social worker, rehabilitation specialists, respiratory therapist, patient educator, case manager, and dietician for a multidisciplinary approach to care.

Responsibilities include collecting and documenting assessment data, developing a Plan of Care (POC) per standard, implementing POC including medical orders and interdisciplinary approach, evaluating the progress of patient toward attainment of desired outcomes, providing effective patient/family education/discharge planning, administering medication per standard, acting as a resource/supports others, and delivering patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.

Delegates care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description, and individual level of education and training.

Contributes to a positive work environment that is conducive to clinical education while serving as a resource for student nurses and staff.

Requirements include a Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelors in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing, Valid RN License, and One (1) year of Registered Nursing experience by date of hire.

Preferred qualifications include Two (2) or more years of nursing experience with current BLS.
