Sign Language Communication Specialist

Responsibilities:
- Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English for hearing interpreters, or between ASL, Tactile American Sign Language, other forms of visual communication, and written English for Deaf interpreters.
- Adhere to Sorenson policies and procedures, as well as the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
- Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues.
- Work effectively in a team environment, receiving support from and providing support to colleagues.
- Enhance interpreting skills through continuing education and training.
- Maintain compliance with any national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements.
- Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in a variety of settings and locations.
Requirements:
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities in ASL:
- Ability to pass our required skills assessment.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- An associate's or bachelor's degree (preferred, but not required).
- Interpreter certification.
- 3 years' experience working as an interpreter (preferred, but not required).
- Ability to travel independently in the metropolitan area, with access to a vehicle, valid driver's license, and minimum state-required vehicular insurance.
