Job Title: Veterinary Technician Senior

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician Senior to join our team at Metro Nashville Government. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing routine medical care and assisting with surgical procedures for animals in our shelter's custody.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarians with diagnostic procedures, administer medications, and maintain accurate records.
  • Train and supervise veterinary technicians, ensuring they perform technical and client education duties effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state animal health laws and regulations, including OSHA and DEA.
  • Perform routine medical evaluations, diagnostic procedures, and provide nursing care or emergency first aid to injured or recovering animals.
  • Prepare animals for surgery, administer anesthesia, and maintain daily log sheets and treatment histories.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a veterinary technician or relevant experience.
  • Active Veterinary Technician license from the State of Tennessee.
  • Valid class 'D' driver's license.
