This role is a critical part of our interior design team, responsible for creating innovative and functional cockpit components for our electric vehicles. As a Senior Mechanical Design Release Engineer, you will be the CEO of the parts for which you are responsible, leading the design and development of Cockpit components from concept through production.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop Cockpit components (Cross Car Beam, Instrument Panel, NVH Assemblies, Center Console, etc.) for Rivian vehicles from concept through production
  • Manage internal resources, interface with suppliers, and partner with all Rivian organizations
  • Research, establish and achieve targets for performance, appearance, quality, cost, timing and mass
  • Create and maintain requirements, performance specifications and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)
  • Work collaboratively with studio designers to develop class A surface themes that meet manufacturing feasibility, functional and cost targets
  • Develop CAD data (2D sections and 3D studies) using CATIA V6 software
  • Lead supplier meetings, guide design reviews and resolve / track cross-functional system and component issues
  • Maintain EBOMs and manage data releases in accordance with program milestones and targets
  • Consistently demonstrate a first-principles approach
  • Flexibility to travel to launch locations for extended periods as necessary

Qualifications:

  • B.S.E. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience in automotive interior development (7+ years preferred)

Pay Disclosure:

Rivian provides a competitive salary range of $107,000 - $134,800 for this role, with actual compensation determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
