Role Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Design Release Engineer - Interior (Restraints) will be responsible for leading the design and development of interior components, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage internal resources and interface with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of interior components.
  • Research and establish targets for performance, appearance, quality, cost, timing, and mass, and develop criteria required for sourcing, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing activities.
  • Create and maintain requirements, performance specifications, and Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R) to ensure compliance with regulatory and certification requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with studio designers to develop class A surface themes that meet manufacturing feasibility, functional, and cost targets.
  • Develop CAD data (2D sections and 3D studies) using CATIA V6 software and lead supplier meetings, guide design reviews, and resolve/tracking cross-functional system and component issues.
  • Maintain EBOMs and manage data releases in accordance with program milestones and targets.
  • Consistently demonstrate a first-principles approach and flexibility to travel to launch locations for extended periods as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters Preferred)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in full cycle automotive interior restraints development (or similar disciplines)
  • 3-5+ years of experience 3D CAD software (CATIA V5 and/or V6 Preferred)
  • Experience partnering with suppliers to deliver high-quality components
  • Ability to self-direct and adapt quickly to program changes
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and certification requirements

Pay Disclosure:

  • $107,800 - $134,800 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, and other factors permitted by law)
