Job Summary

To provide high-quality patient care as assigned, performing phlebotomy and electrocardiography tasks accurately and safely. May require access to medication storage areas and the use of non-prescription medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care duties accurately, timely, and safely for assigned patients/area.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare team members.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in paper and electronic formats.
  • Utilize equipment and supplies safely and efficiently, ordering supplies as needed.
  • Perform basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, waived testing, and patient transports.
  • Show proficiency in blood collection and perform tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform EKGs and other assigned duties.
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a tech training course, such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) course.
  • 1 year of nurse tech hospital experience or skilled nursing facility experience required if educational requirements are not met.
  • Computer experience is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous CNA or CMA experience.
  • NT: 2 years of NT/NA experience preferred.
  • EKG: 6 months of EKG experience preferred, with successful completion of Palmetto Health EKG course and training within 90 days of hire.
  • PB: 3 months of phlebotomy experience preferred, with successful completion of Palmetto Health phlebotomy course and training within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment

Day shift, Tuomey facility, Medical Stepdown Unit.
