Job Summary

As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing quality instruction and support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of students with ASD and other special needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create inclusive and supportive learning environments that promote social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Use a variety of assessment strategies to inform instructional decisions and increase student self-management of learning.
  • Design and deliver rigorous inquiry-based learning tasks that engage students in deep content of the discipline and habits of scholarship.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and inclusive education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Prior successful experience in student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
  • Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.
  • Master's or PhD preferred.
  • A valid Minnesota teaching license in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or Academic and Behavioral Strategist (ABS); or proof of pending approved licensure.
