Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as our Associate Extension Administrator. This is a tenure-track position that requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and supervisory abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to Extension Education and Educational Outreach staff, supervising Extension and outreach program staff, and maintaining an effective Extension program in their discipline or area of expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to Extension Education and Educational Outreach staff in overall program design, development, and delivery.
  • Supervise Extension and outreach program staff, including work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
  • Maintain an effective Extension program in their discipline or area of expertise.
  • Prepare reports and documentation to the US Department of Agriculture and the University as required.
  • Serve on local, state, and national Extension committees, task forces, and university committees as requested.
  • Maintain knowledge of client needs based on data analysis.
  • Support and encourage multi-state collaborations and partnerships.
  • Keep abreast of current trends affecting Extension and advise the Dean/Directors/Extension Administrators as appropriate.
  • Assist with budget preparation and fiscal management.
  • Develop strategies for program development and oversee all Extension efforts.
Requirements
  • Ph.D./Ed.D. in Agriculture Education or related fields, with at least 5-7 years of Extension experience.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and supervisory abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in conducting and administering Cooperative Extension programs.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in developing strong organizational relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace rapid technological changes.
  • Advanced ability to write successful grant proposals.
  • Knowledge of management practices.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software applications.
  • Knowledge of University and U.S. Department of Agriculture policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and significant experience in working with limited resource and minority group clientele.
Working Conditions

This position requires extensive travel and may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The ability to lift 40lbs is also required.
