Protective Services Investigator – Klamath County, Oregon

Are you committed to safeguarding individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities? Klamath County Developmental Disabilities Services (KCDDS) is in search of a devoted Protective Services Investigator to enhance our mission and positively impact the lives of those we support.
Role Summary: As a Protective Services Investigator, you will be instrumental in the development and execution of our Protective Services Program. Your duties will encompass conducting thorough investigations, providing education to staff and service providers, and ensuring adherence to protective service regulations. You will collaborate with a team of professionals dedicated to the welfare of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations into abuse allegations and deliver protective services for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, regardless of their current enrollment status.
- Provide training to KCDDS staff, individuals, and service providers regarding protective services and mandatory reporting obligations.
- Engage in ongoing professional development through continuous learning and participation in quarterly OTIS meetings, including at least one in-person meeting each year.
- Document and investigate complaints of abuse, prepare detailed reports, and oversee the implementation of recommended actions. Notify law enforcement of any suspected criminal activities.
- Report any suspected or witnessed child abuse to the appropriate authorities.
- Oversee CAM process functions, report significant incidents and trends to ODDS, and complete investigations in accordance with OAR regulations.
- Assist in formulating and executing CDDP emergency planning in alignment with Klamath County's Emergency Operation Plan (EOP).
- Participate in departmental and position-specific training and co-lead the KCDDS PSI Team alongside other Protective Services Investigator Specialists.
- Collaborate to maintain the PSI section of the KCDDS Policies and Procedures Manual.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human science, social science, behavioral science, or criminal science with two years of relevant experience; or an Associate degree with four years of experience.
- Familiarity with Oregon's public service system for developmental disabilities and the ability to complete competency-based training from OTIS within one year of employment.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Oregon Driver's License.
- Commitment to completing 20 hours of I/DD training annually and required ODDS and KCDDS orientation trainings. Core competency training must be finalized within the first year.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of developmental disability services, community resources, and confidentiality regulations.
- Proficient in investigative techniques, critical thinking, effective communication, and case management.
- Ability to handle sensitive information, maintain professional relationships, and produce clear reports.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent sitting and use of hands; occasional standing, walking, reaching, and talking. Capability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Good vision, including close and peripheral vision.
