Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant II to join our team at the Klamath County Library. As a key member of our library staff, you will provide exceptional customer service, support library programs, and maintain a welcoming environment for our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly and courteous assistance to patrons, helping them locate materials, access information, and use library computers and online resources.
  • Support and assist with library programs for children, teens, and adults, including setup, execution, and evaluation.
  • Efficiently and courteously notify patrons about reserved, overdue, or damaged materials, and assist with the checkout and return process.
  • Record and maintain daily library usage statistics, and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an attractive library environment.
  • Under the direction of the Branch Assistant, assist in removing outdated or worn materials from the branch collection.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to use email, web browsers, search engines, and word processing software, and to learn to use new software.
Working Conditions

This role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, hand use, reaching, and effective communication. Occasionally, you may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or use the senses of taste or smell. The ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds is sometimes necessary. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
