Job Summary

We are seeking a Peer Support Mentor to join our team at Siletz Tribal Gaming Comm. The successful candidate will provide individual and group skill building for independent living, physical, and recreational activities. They will also participate with outpatient staff in planning and providing aftercare services, making referrals to tribal and other community resources, and preparing and completing program reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group skill building for independent living, physical, and recreational activities.
  • Participate with outpatient staff in planning and providing aftercare services.
  • Make referrals to tribal and other community resources and twelve step groups.
  • Prepare and complete program reports.
  • Update records to document client services delivered.
  • Maintain up-to-date client records according to Indian Health Service, state, and program standards.
  • Provide transportation for clients to and from residential treatment, medical and dental appointments.
  • Observe and track client U.A's.
  • Attend monthly meetings with other partners as requested.
  • Attend weekly Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) staff meetings to discuss mutual clients, assisting with coordinated care for Behavioral Health and/or MAT clients.
Requirements
  • Peer Support Mentor I - Certified Recovery Mentor Trainee: High School diploma or GED and one year of verifiable experience in a human services field. Must be able and willing to become certified, within 12-months, as a Certified Recovery Mentor through the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO).
  • Peer Support Mentor II - Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM): The Peer Support Mentor I transitions to a Peer Support Mentor II after obtaining CRM certification through MHACBO with 2 years of experience in the Behavioral Health (BH) field, satisfactory evaluations, and approval from the BH department Administrator.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • A clear understanding of Tribal and other services available to assist the person in recovery.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people, and communicate effectively with program staff, clients, and the community.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency in direct service, within the organization, and in program planning and development.
  • Network effectively with Tribal and community agencies and the multidisciplinary team.
Other Requirements
  • Abstinence during employment in this capacity is essential to the overall effectiveness of the program.
  • Individuals in recovery from the disease of alcoholism and/or other drug dependence must affirm that previous employment performance has not been impaired by alcoholism/substance abuse over the past two years.
  • First Aid and CPR or must acquire within six months of hire.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, insurance and be eligible to drive a GSA vehicle.
