We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians and technicians in delivering top-notch medical services.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist veterinarians with patient care and treatment, including monitoring hospitalized pets and preparing patients for surgery.
- Perform routine in-house laboratory work, including taking blood, stool, and other samples, and preparing specimens for outside laboratories.
- Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments at the discretion of the veterinarian.
- Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
- Clean and maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and lab spaces, and restock exam rooms with supplies.
- Previous veterinary experience preferred.
- Ability to work on weekends as required.
- Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
- Practice OSHA safety techniques, including proper PPE.
- Basic math skills and ability to calculate medication dosages.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS office applications.
