Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Hauler plays a crucial role in the secure and efficient movement of construction machinery to various sites and maintenance facilities. This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols established by the company, as well as compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the individual will assist mechanics in the upkeep, preventive maintenance, and repair of diverse heavy machinery. Responsibilities also include the collection and delivery of parts necessary for the seamless operation of the parts department.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a robust work ethic, capable of following directions and collaborating effectively in both team and independent settings.
- Comply with the Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and uphold company policies.
- Ensure proper securing of equipment for transport, adhering to all applicable regulations.
- Operate vehicles and machinery professionally, performing all tasks safely, including maintaining appropriate fuel and water levels.
- Conduct pre/post-trip inspections of vehicles and maintain accurate daily logs of service hours.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of assigned trucks and equipment, ensuring a clean and sanitary environment.
- Follow delivery instructions as directed by management.
- Engage in preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, oil changes, and troubleshooting on heavy machinery.
- Assist in creating work orders for repairs and services, ensuring accurate documentation in the maintenance database.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the maintenance shop.
- Support the Maintenance Clerk in stocking parts and managing inventory.
- Promote a culture of safety by adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Wear required protective gear at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including some administrative tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Heavy Haul operations, with a proven ability to secure loads in accordance with DOT standards.
- Possession of a valid Class A CDL, free from major violations that would prevent eligibility for driving as per company policy.
- Registration with the Clearinghouse is mandatory.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Must be drug-free and capable of performing moderately strenuous physical tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.
- Frequent climbing in and out of equipment and ladders, as well as extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Proficient use of hands and feet for operating heavy machinery and vehicles.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.
The work environment may vary from outdoor settings with fluctuating noise levels and vibrations from machinery to a standard office atmosphere.
