Job Overview

US6469 Sysco Payroll, Division of Sysco Resources Services, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Food Safety Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for driving food safety strategies at the local level and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

About the Role

This is a full-time position that requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution center food service operations, food safety quality assurance/control, research & development, food production/operations, supply chain, or related disciplines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement proactive food safety strategies to mitigate risks at the local level.
  • Drive corporate Global Support Center (GSC) food safety strategy at the local level, ensuring compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local regulations.
  • Lead execution of the Food Safety Preventive Controls Program at assigned sites, inclusive of HACCP plan, pre-requisite programs, food safety policies, and specific SOPs.
  • Conduct food safety observations, provide coaching for improvement, and ensure effective behaviors and actions.
  • Manage and lead Sysco's participation in Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), audits by BRC, independent third parties, customers, and Sysco's internal audit process.
  • Respond promptly and thoroughly to food safety complaints from customers, effectively communicating resolutions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee product recall process, complete vulnerability assessments, and develop mitigations for the Food Defense Program.
  • Implement site-level food safety culture program, including food safety awareness and culture assessment activities.
  • Routinely audit food safety practices, faciliate requests from national and/or local customers, and maintain documentation/verification requirements per Sysco policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in distribution center food service operations, food safety quality assurance/control, research & development, food production/operations, supply chain, or related disciplines.
  • Knowledge of product traceability, HACCP, ServSafe, FDA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual certification preferred.
  • Understanding of Food Safety regulations, laws, and best practices, including those from FDA, USDA, CFIA, and other state/provincial/local entities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Biological Science, or related field preferred.
  • Certifications in Food Safety, HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) required.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Benefits

We offer competitive salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per year based on location and experience, flexible work hours, moderate noise levels, occasional travel to Sysco facilities or Operating Sites.
