Position Overview:
Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties is seeking a full-time Bilingual Medical Support Specialist in a dynamic healthcare environment.
This intermediate-level role involves various supportive tasks in the provision of reproductive health services, primary care, and surgical assistance.
Assist patients by conducting tests, screenings, and providing support before and after surgical procedures essential for delivering reproductive health services.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure a high standard of care and efficient service delivery.Responsibilities include triaging patients, preparing examination rooms, and assisting providers throughout medical procedures, including surgical abortion services up to 23.6 weeks.
Deliver compassionate, non-judgmental care to all patients.

Qualifications:
Licensure and Certification:
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or certification from a recognized certifying organization approved by the Medical Board of California is required.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
Work Experience:
1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
Recent experience with blood draws and injections is desirable.
Experience in reproductive health, managed care, and/or abortion services is advantageous.
Language Skills:
Some positions may require bilingual proficiency (reading, writing, and speaking). Candidates may be assessed for language skills prior to an offer.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with electronic medical records may also be necessary.
This position may require travel to various sites; if using a personal vehicle, a valid driver's license and current auto insurance compliant with state regulations are required.
Key Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Essential functions include the necessary tasks, duties, and responsibilities associated with this role.
Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and protocols, which may involve completing agency, regional, and/or state certification requirements.
Independently perform and/or coordinate the following back-office functions: Communicate effectively with licensed providers regarding any patient disclosures of violence, abuse, or unsafe living conditions during interactions.
Conduct and document basic laboratory tests (e.g., Hgb, pregnancy tests, urine dipsticks, rapid HIV, etc.).
Process specimens for external laboratory testing.
Obtain vital signs (blood pressure, height, weight, etc.).
Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of equipment, and stock examination rooms.
Conduct patient visits exclusively for Medical Assistant duties.
Gather patient medical histories.
Schedule appointments and refer patients for follow-up medical services, including abortion services.
Assist and support clinical staff in:
Providing contraceptive services, including inventory management.
Delivering primary care services, including performing EKGs, pulse oximetry, A1C tests, and assisting with procedures as directed by the provider.
Facilitating abortion services, including assisting in analyzing products of conception up to 23.6 weeks.
Provide patient care by:
Pre-procedure: connecting to EKG, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter.
Post-procedure: transporting patients to recovery rooms and cleaning bodily fluids.
Adhere to infection control, safety, and emergency protocols.
Strive to ensure patient satisfaction.
Build rapport with patients, remaining attentive to their medical and educational needs delivered in a professional and timely manner.
Prepare the center for opening and secure it for closing as required.Non-Essential Functions:
Stay informed on relevant anatomy and physiology, contraception methods, STIs, pregnancy, adoption, early prenatal care, educational techniques, community resources, agency protocols, referral procedures, and all Planned Parenthood programs.
Other duties as assigned.
